Aqualung
Aqualung explores water in its most essential state: pure, clear, and life-giving. As the primordial source of existence, water flows through landscapes, renewing itself as it moves over stone, gathering energy and memory along its winding course. Its path may appear random, yet it follows a deeper harmony that connects every part to a greater whole.
The title Aqualung is understood here in its etymological sense: water as a living lung, a breath that sustains the world. It inhales and exhales through rivers, streams, and currents, nourishing, transforming, and connecting all forms of life. Through this work, Ali Chraibi celebrates water as a vital force whose perpetual movement embodies both renewal and continuity.
The artist also reflects on the relationship between the individual and the collective. A single drop separates momentarily from the flow, asserting its own identity before naturally rejoining the current from which it emerged. This cycle becomes a metaphor for existence itself, where every element belongs to a larger whole while retaining its unique essence.
Through layered textures, fluid forms, and subtle contrasts, Aqualung invites viewers to contemplate water not merely as a natural element, but as a living presence—an enduring source of balance, regeneration, and universal connection.
