Back to Modern Times
This series, titled Back to Modern Times, plays on a double reference — both to Charlie Chaplin’s iconic cinematic work and to the timeless nature of labor itself.
Like a form of return to the future, these contemporary images echo the visual and social codes of the Industrial Revolution, creating a deliberate temporal dislocation in which past and present become indistinguishable.
At first reading, the photographs can be understood as an exploration of the working condition, carrying a clear social and political resonance. They address the tension between man and machine, gradually introducing a sense of ambiguity where roles blur and control becomes uncertain — to the point where the machine appears humanized.
Beyond this initial interpretation, a second, more subtle layer emerges: the work reflects on humanity itself, its evolution, and its destiny. Through this lens, the series becomes less about labor as a subject, and more about the human condition in motion — caught between progress, transformation, and disappearance.
